Speaker signs MOU with Turkish Parliament
The Speaker, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Hon. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Şentop, the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, on the establishment of a parliamentary collaboration between the two parliaments.

The MoU was signed on Wednesday, 04 December 2019 in Ankara. The meeting between Hon. Mustafa Sentop and Hon. Rebecca Kadaga lasted for nearly an hour at the Speaker’s office.

Ambassador H.E. Stephen Mubiru, Chairman of Turkey-Uganda Interparliamentary Friendship Group and AK Party Deputy Hon. Nevzat Ceylan, Chairman of Uganda -Turkey Interparliamentary Friendship Group Deputy Hon. Paul Akamba, Deputy Hon. Henry Maurice Kibalya, Secretary General of GNAT Mr. Mehmet Ali Kumbuzoğlu and Mr. Julius Mwijusya, First Seretary, attended to the meeting. 

The MoU is meant to facilitate the mutual benefit that can be drawn from this cooperation in strengthening democratic governance and rule of law.

“Interactions and exchange of views between the people’s representatives constitute an important part of state-to-state relationships, “the MOU states in part.

It further says that strengthening parliamentary interaction in bilateral and multilateral areas enhances mutual trust, understanding, expanding consensus and promoting cooperation.

The parties agreed to establish a framework for parliamentary cooperation within which the parliaments work together towards a more comprehensive, equal and mutually beneficial strategic partnership for sustainable development.

After the meeting, Hon. Şentop gave a luncheon at the Parliamentary Ceremony Hall in honor of the Hon. Kadaga.

Speaker Hon. Kadaga and the accompanying  delegation visited General Assembly and  the area damaged by the FETÖ coup attempt on 15 July 2016.

Hon. Şentop and Hon. Kadaga, took pictures with children who came to visit the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on the stairs of the Hall of Honor of the Assembly.
